Stephen Leacock’s humorous writings earned him international fame. He was born in England and arrived in Ontario as a boy of six in 1876.

His father, Peter Leacock, was an unsuccessful farmer, and a mean, ungrateful man, Stephen Leacock’s youth was spent working every hard on the struggling family farm.
